Northampton held on to beat Gloucester in what was a thrilling match on Sunday and a great advert for Rugby. It was a cracker of a match. Both sides played with a huge amount of effort and skill. It really made you appreciate the fitness levels of these players to maintain that intensity over 80 minutes.

The highlight for me was Northampton’s Tonga’uiha (who hits the scales at a tad under 20 stone) intercepting the ball on his own 22 and sprinting 60 yards up field. He was like a huge over fed whippet! He had a huge big grin on his face, it was brilliant. I think even the Gloucester fans were cheering him on!

After some end to end tries, and try saving tackles Myler, who finished with a 100% goal-kicking record and 15 points, and Robinson, who slotted 14 points, exchanged further penalties as the clock ticked down.

But the six-point deficit ultimately proved too much for Gloucester and Northampton held out to clinch a contender for game of the season.
